Erskine Earl Sinclair, Sr.

Erskine Earl Sinclair, Sr., 87, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at First Methodist Church of Panhandle with Rev. Kirk Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, his memory may be honored with a gift to the First Methodist Church of Panhandle or to the Garretsons Center, PO 1239, Box Panhandle, Texas 79068.

Erskine was born July 7, 1936, in Hodgeman County, Kansas on the family farm to Thomas William Sinclair and Pearl Jones Sinclair.  The youngest of 11 children, Erskine talked about adventures that he had with his siblings including riding a horse to and from school.  At age 18, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for 4 years (from 1955-1959).  He soon began working for Cities Service Company (Williams) where he worked for 30 years.  

He married Frances Sinclair on July 7, 1976, (his 40th birthday).  They were married 40 years until her passing in 2016.  Erskine has 7 children, 13 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, 9 siblings: Alec, Wilbur, Francis, Cleason, Harry, and Charlie Sinclair, Lorraine Whipple, Olive Baldwin, and Daisy Kenton.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Brett Sinclair of Amarillo, Earl Sinclair and wife Dyanne of Panhandle, Devin Sinclair and wife Mandy of Panhandle.  Four daughters: Brenda Sinclair of Graford, Jennifer Marlar and husband Jeff of Pampa, Michelle Mayfield and husband Ty of Amarillo, Holley Williamson and husband Scott of Bushland.  Thirteen grandchildren: David, Tanner, Shayla, Austin, Kylin, Lauren, Brady, Madelyn, Hunter, Brooke, Savannah, Jackson, and Augustus and 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Mervin Sinclair and wife Jean of Dodge City, Kansas; and sister-in-law, Doris Gabel of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews that he cared about.
