Ethel Marie Burse – Jackson or (Sudda) passed away on Monday August 30, 2021, in Borger.
Ethel Marie Burse-Jackson or (Sudda) was born in Austin Texas, March 29, 1940, to Parents Myrtle and Leroy Burse Ms. Ethel was the first of 13 children. She lived there until high school, when she moved to Borger to be with her mother and stepfather Dan & Myrtle King. She married Elmer “Bob” Jackson in 1958 when he came home from the Korean War. They moved to Pueblo Colorado, had their first child Phyllis Renee, who preceded her in death in 2000. Moved back to Borger were her first-born son, who also preceded her in death, Elmer Charles Jr. was born. Ms. Ethel lived here off and on over her 81 years.
She moved back to Borger in 1992 to be near her mother for a different reason this time to be near her family and to take care of her five grandchildren. A longtime member of New Zion Baptist Church here in Borger, she worked for many years, as church secretary. Her Surviving living children are, Emmanuel Charles of California, Kimberly D’Ann of Borger Tx., Tracy Lynn and Christopher Leroy both of Wichita Ks. She is also survived by siblings; brothers Charles Burse of Austin Tx, Daniel Burse, Donald King both of Borger Tx, along with sisters Carolyn Burse, Marian Cunningham, Delana King and Wanda Salinas all of Borger Texas.
Four brothers, Leroy Burse Jr., Jimmy Lee Burse, Robert Lee King and Harold Ray King also preceded her in death. Along with her mother Myrtle King and father Leroy Burse and stepfather Daniel King also her granddaughter Nianni Iyanna Gillum.
Ms. Ethel lived with her family in Denver Co. and after her separation went back to school studied hard in office management. Remarrying her husband in 1974, she moved to California, and did office work where she excelled, the late 70 move her back to Borger where she worked for the park service at Lake Meredith in Fritch Tx. In addition, she had a great career with the Internal Revenue Service, in both Kansas and Texas. In California, she was senior Supervisor for the government student loan service. She also worked hard and had a voice in the early 70’s mostly about her children’s rights.
Two sons and two daughters, along with 25 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, and many relatives and friends all mourn her. I would like to recognize my Aunt Wanda Dickson-King whom my mother thought of as her best friend and Linda Gail Byrd her sister in heart. Thank You.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 11, 2021, at New Zion Baptist Church in Borger. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
