Ethel Agnes Pratt, 86, of Panhandle went to her Heavenly home Monday morning after a brief illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, February 14th, at Grace Fellowship Church in Panhandle. Burial will be at Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Ethel Pratt was born February 8, 1927 at Sudan, Texas, to David R. and Mary Ellen Eudaley Toten. She graduated from Panhandle High School May 21, 1946. She married Glenn Leroy Pratt on September 3, 1946, at Carlsbad, New Mexico. Together, she and Glenn farmed West of Panhandle from 1946 until 1981, when he preceded her in death. Ethel continued to manage the farm operations until 1985.
Ethel was a wife, mother and a redeemed daughter of the King. She was a bornagain Christian who loved and placed her trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. She taught Bible stories to many young children during the years she taught Sunday School, and has served as the Church Secretary since 1993. She was an avid reader, a talented seamstress and enjoyed bowling. Ethel enthusiastically followed sports, especially womens basketball. The Little League Championship was a favorite. She was a Square House Museum volunteer for a number of years.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, her husband Glenn in 1981, and two children, a son, Vernon Pratt in 2000, and a daughter, Norma Joyce Pratt Thomason in 2003. Ethel is survived by a daughter Glenda Pratt Boothe and husband Galen of Panhandle, a soninlaw Ronny Thomason and wife Ruth of Jacksonville, Florida, six grandchildren, Dawn Boothe Miller and husband Dale of Bellaire, Texas, Denise Boothe Downey and husband Rickey of Grand Junction, Colorado, Joel Pratt and wife Karen of Frisco, Texas, Marcy Pratt Molone and husband Mike of Portland, Texas, Heather Fawn Thomason of Jacksonville, Florida, and Aaron Thomason and wife Stephanie of Jacksonville, Florida, and 12 greatgrandchildren, Evin Miller, Holland Miller, Logan Downey, Shea Downey, Maddie Pratt, Michael Pratt, Matthew Pratt, Ashlee Molone, Jordan Molone, Abigail Molone, Ethan Thomason, and Marlee Thomason.
