Eunice Geneva Henry, 93, formerly of Panhandle died Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Panhandle Cemetery with Pastor Josh Light of the First Baptist Church of Panhandle officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening June 20, 2017 at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Eunice was born August 27, 1923 in Lexington, Texas to Jessie and Mollie Allen Vick. She graduated from Memphis High School in 1941, and married Aaron Dee Henry October 27, 1945 in Memphis. They lived in Panhandle for almost 50 years before moving to Park Central in Amarillo, and then to Mesquite. Eunice was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, and former member of the First Baptist Church in Panhandle. They owned and operated Dee's Conoco in Panhandle for several decades. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary prior to Dee's death May 11, 2009.
Eunice was a loving, dedicated mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother and friend. She will be remembered by an excellent work ethic, decorum of character, cook, homemaker, and gardener. Baking cobblers, pies, and cakes were her passion. She was especially known by everyone for her fruit cobblers. Eunice also enjoyed reading her bible, playing cards, and dominos.
Special memories include many fishing trips with family and friends, family reunions, trips to Star Island Minnesota, Arizona, and Colorado. Her accomplishments in life was her strong testimony to her faith, valued work ethic, great friendships, and devotion to her family.
Eunice is preceded in death by her husband Dee, parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include her son Bill Henry of Phoenix, Arizona; her daughter Nedra Manahan and husband Mike of Mesquite; two sisters Irene Davis of Panhandle, Shirley Riggins and husband Harry of Amarillo; two sister in laws Betty Vick of Panhandle, Lila Vick of Joshua, Texas; two grandchildren Keri Jones and husband Jesse, Kim Manahan both of the Dallas area; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend Trip Batten of Phoenix, Arizona.
The family is appreciative for the love, compassion, and care given to Eunice during her residency at Heritage Skilled Nursing and Hospitalization at BSA.
While her spirit and life lessons will live on for generations to come, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She faced each day with a smile on her face and a sense of optimism that inspired all who knew her. Eunice faced every challenge with dignity, grace, and integrity.
Mom's legacy - Her spirit of forgiveness and leading her life by the golden rule; treating others the way you want to be treated with decorum.
Rejoice….Mom and Dad are finally reunited.
