Famous W. Byers, 75, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 in Amarillo.
Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ at Borger interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery with Mark DeRouen, son-in-law officiating.
Mr. Byers was born on July 15, 1934 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and had been a Borger resident for 3 12 years moving here from Beaumont, TX. He was an involvement minister at the Church of Christ at Borger. He married Zelma Carol Dee on December 24, 1956 in Las Vegas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a drill sergeant. Famous enjoyed spending time studying the Bible and developing new lessons, teaching his Wednesday and Sunday Class and challenging people he met to grow in their faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Famous is survived by his wife Carol of the home, three daughters - Carrie Walker and husband Marty of Borger, Tammy Recter and husband Jeff of Abilene, Tina De Rouen and husband Mark of Borger, sister - Cornelia Stewart of California, eight grandchildren - Caylon, Trent Keelie Walker, Nick Amanda Recter, Joshua, Cameron Colten DeRouen.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Casket bearers will be Caylon Walker, Trent Walker, Nick Recter, Joshua DeRouen, Cameron DeRouen and Colten DeRouen.
