Floyd Mckinney

Floyd McKinney, 88, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.

Funeral services will be held 2pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch with Rev. Jack McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to Life Challenge of Amarillo, 6500 Hope Road, Amarillo, Texas 79119, the Alzheimer's Association, 415 West 8th Ave. #300, Amarillo, Texas 79101 or the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312.

Floyd was born July 2, 1929 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Lela Ella (Orr) and Lonzo Dewitt McKinney. He married Charlene Pickering on September 30, 2000 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Floyd proudly served in the United States Air Force with an Honorable Discharge. He worked for Phillips 66 at the Philtex Plant for 31 years. Floyd was an active member at First Baptist Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma, First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch, Texas and First Baptist Church in Phillips, Texas.

He enjoyed helping people with projects around their homes. He enjoyed riding his bicycle every day until becoming ill. Most of all, he enjoyed collecting Indian Artifacts and spending time with family and friends. He also loved playing golf in Borger with his friends. Floyd was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlene; brothers, Bill McKinney, Alex McKinney, L.D. McKinney, and Jack McKinney; and sisters, Emma Mae Newby, Cleo Fargo and Patty Hall.

Survivors include his son, Steven McKinney and wife Rose of Amarillo; daughter, Kathryn Shuffield of Fritch; step-son, Jack W. McKinney of Conroe, Texas; step-daughter, Suzanne Jewell and husband Bill of Crescent, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Matthew McKinney, Joe Whatley, Robert Ratliff, Tucker Stroud, Guy Rowh, Odis McClellan, Joe Don Brown and Dennis Andrews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Sargent, RD Draper, Bill Turner and Duane Campbell.
