Floyd Vance Robertson, 78, passed from this life to his new one with Christ on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 in Borger, Texas.
Floyd was born in Phillips, Texas on Sept. 7, 1940. Floyd graduated from Phillips High School in 1959. He later received a master's degree in Clinical psychology from North Texas University. He worked for Borger ISD for 28 years as a school psychologist.
Floyd's parents built a roller rink in Sanford in 1950. In 1963, Floyd, his parents, the community & parents of skaters all came together to build the new Circle Roller Rink located on The Circle in Borger. Throughout the years, Floyd worked at both rinks and competed in all aspects of the sport including: hockey, speed-skating, dance, free-style & figure skating. In 1978, Floyd & Jonnie took over ownership of the Circle Rink and sold it in 2007. Many kids considered Floyd a father-figure and he treated them as his own. Floyd was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and an elder.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Jonnie (Oswalt) Robertson; two sons, Joel Robertson & wife Janell; Daryl Robertson & wife Selena; three grandchildren, Hannah Vital & husband, Jesus; Jordan Robertson; & Lucas Robertson; & one great grandson, Ian Vital.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, June & Jack Robertson, and a brother, Kelly Steiner.
Visitation will be held at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 3, from 3pm-5pm. Graveside services will be held on Monday, Feb. 4 at 2pm at Westlawn Cemetery.
