Gary “Rowdy” Lee Yates, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

Masonic graveside services will be held 2 pm on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Westlawn Memorial Park.

A celebration of his life was held at 4 pm on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the Minton Memorial Chapel.  Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.   In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to the Borger Satellite Workshop, PO Box 1125, Borger, Texas 79008.

Rowdy was born March 8, 1944 in Missouri to Richard Wayne Yates and Mary Evelyn Hammond Yates.  He proudly served in the United States Army.  Rowdy was an electrician by trade, a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.   He was a member of Unity Lodge #1242 and was a 32° Scottish Rite Freemason.  Rowdy also enjoyed watching the deer and turkey come in and hand feeding them.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; wife,  Frances Lorraine Crabb Yates; and a daughter, JoAnn Yates.

Survivors include his daughter, Maryellen Brown of Borger; son, James Yates and his wife Sharee Ledesma of Dallas; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and sister, Carol McGehee and husband Dick of Norman, Oklahoma.
