B.G. (Gene) (Deacon), 82, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
Funeral service will be held 10 am Wednesday, December 15, 2015 in Riverview Baptist Church with Preacher Jimmy Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens of Pampa under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the funeral home.
Gene was born June 8, 1933 in Borger before moving to Pampa. After graduation from Pampa High School, Gene returned to Borger to graduate from Frank Phillips College. Mr. Compton received his Business Administration degree from Oklahoma University and Attorney at Law degree from Southern Methodist University of Dallas.
Gene held many offices including: Assistant District Attorney in Dallas; Senior Judge, Assistant District Attorney and District Attorney in Amarillo; and City Attorney and District Attorney in Borger.
He proudly served in the United States Army.
Gene enjoyed watching football, especially OU and the Dallas Cowboys, traveling, watching sunsets and Lawrence Welk. Gene's life was a testament of what a person may achieve through hard work and a desire to better one's life.
He is preceded in death by his brother, J.D. Compton and his faithful dog, Hannah, who now gets to affectionately wake him once again with a morning kiss.
Survivors include his wife, Nona of the home; daughter, Karen Stanton and husband Jim of Irving; son, Bill Compton and wife Chris Ann of Plano; a beloved grandson, Will Compton of Plano; and a host of extended family.
