Gene Mcwilliams

W.G. "Gene" McWilliams, 82, of Borger passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 peacefully at his home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Central Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Riley of the Monterey Baptist Church in Lubbock officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Serenity at Westlawn Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Wendell Gene McWilliams was born May 11, 1934 in Durant, Oklahoma to Jerry Franklin and Anne Belle (Simmons) McWilliams. He married Janis Garner August 6, 1956 in Stinnett, and was a Borger resident for over 70 years moving from Oklahoma. Gene was also a member of the Central Baptist Church.

Gene retired as Fire Chief from the City of Borger after fighting fires for 39 years, and was involved with the Hutchinson County Livestock show for many years. He loved going to his grandkids sporting events, and doing odd jobs on his days off.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife Janis; two sons Wendell McWilliams and wife Lauri, Anthony McWilliams and wife Kim, both of Scotts Acres; daughter Terri Cone and husband David of Skellytown; six grandchildren Krystal Cone of Stinnett, Sean Cone of White Deer, Lacy Kossey of Canyon, Shaye Burk and Taw McWilliams both of Borger, Ashby McWilliams of Amarillo; six great grandchildren with two on the way, Jordan Cone, Tyler Kossey, Cooper Cone, Charli Jo Cone, Easton Burk, and Taytum Sandoval.
