George Dewayne Wells passed from this world on April 18, 2017, in Amarillo, Texas, as a result of a massive stroke on Easter Sunday.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 21, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Miami, Texas with Pastor Anthony Inman and Donald Ward, Pastor of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Borger, officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Cemetery, Miami, Texas under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to a charity of choice.
Dewayne was born December 18, 1933, in Wheeler County to George Johnson Wells and Francis Maxine Casity. He married Erma Riley, November 25, 1954 and had 62 wonderful years together.
Dewayne graduated from Miami High School and West Texas State University in Canyon. He worked for Natural Gas Pipeline Co. Of America in Miami, moved to Fritch, Dumas and finally to Kermit where he retired after 38 years in 1993.
Dewayne enjoyed gardening and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his family vacations on the coast.
Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents.
Dewayne is survived by his wife Erma of the home, daughter, Kathie Harber of Borger; grandson Kevin Harber of San Marcos; brother Tommy Wells and wife Johnnie of Dallas; nephews Roger Wells of Pampa, Scotty Wells of Jacksonville, Fl.; niece Kellie Ranney of Pampa. He leaves behind a very special friend Bertha Walker and numerous other friends because he never met a stranger.
