Gerald Purdy, 69, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Fritch with Pastor Danny Courtney officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to Fritch Meals on Wheels, PO Box 366, Fritch, Texas, 79036.
Gerald was born March 27, 1953, in Quitaque, Texas to Cecil Purdy and Josie Beatrice Tyler Purdy. He worked as a pipefitter all his life. In 1994, Gerald and his wife, Chris, opened Chris’s Kitchen which has been a staple in Fritch for 28 years. Gerald enjoyed working on tractors, gardening, and visiting at the café. Nothing brought more joy to his life than his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Josie Beatrice Purdy; wife, Chris; brothers, Wes Purdy, Orval Purdy, Raymond Purdy, Tom Purdy; and sister, Jean Reinhardt.
Survivors include his wife, Jane of Fritch; daughter, Paula Garton and husband Brian of Fritch; son, David Purdy and wife Amy of Borger; step-son, Shawn Patrick and wife Michele of Channing; grandchildren, Alyssa Witt and husband Camren, Kaylor Garton, Abby Garton, Piper Purdy, Emma Purdy, Wyatt Patrick, Tag’N Patrick; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Cohen; brothers, Cleave Purdy and wife Carla of Douglas, Kansas, Ray Purdy and wife Linda of Sunray, Bud Purdy of Lubbock; sister, Barbara Anderson of Tyler; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
