Geraldine Dee Malone Austin, 68, of Panhandle, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 in Panhandle.

A private service will be held for family only. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Geraldine Dee Malone Austin was born October 23, 1943 in Hidalgo County, Texas to Willie and Edna Malone. She had been a longtime Panhandle resident, and worked as a caretaker in home healthcare. Dee was a member of the Panhandle First Baptist Church, loved spending time with her grandkids, and watching sports. She also was manager at the adobe store, cooked at Garretsons Nursing Home, worked at Saint Anns Nursing Home, and waitressing at Fat Tonys restaurant.

Survivors include her two sons Edward Newton and wife of Panhandle, Keith Vaught and wife of California his mother, Edna Fish of Panhandle six grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild.

Dee is preceded in death by her husband R.E. Austin , April 3, 2003 a daughter, Deann Mayes her father, Willie Malone a sister, and two brothers.
