Harold Rist

August 7, 1920 — July 15, 2010

Dr. H. G. Rist, D.C., our loving father and grandfather, passed away at 89 years of age Thursday, July 15, 2010 in Lubbock at University Medical Center. He was a longtime resident of Borger since 1950 when he started his chiropractic practice here.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Stegall of Grace Fellowship Church officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

He graduated from B. J. Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa in 1946. He first began a practice in Irene, South Dakota upon graduation, then after a few years moved to Coleman, Texas starting up a chiropractic practice there until they finally settled in Borger in 1950. He had a longtime practice and patients there until he retired late 2007.

He took many positive thinking and concept therapy classes and training along with his wife Madelyn. He was a kind, loving soft spoken man that cared if it made a difference to his patients that they feel better and he wanted to help them to have better health. That is what he strived for and believed so strongly in.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife and partner Madelyn Evelyn Mikkelson Rist in 2002. They married June 18, 1944 in Irene, South Dakota. He was also preceded in death by his parents William John Rist and Barbara Rist of Centerville, South Dakota along with his five brothers, Roy Rist, Henry Rist, Ervin Rist, Melvin Rist and Robert Rist.

His survivors are his daughter, Barbara D. Rist of Amarillo daughter, Marcia L. Casey of Houston son, Galen H. Rist of Borger daughter, Pamela K. Alexander and husband Gary E. of Borger seven grandchildren Dianne L. Davis and husband Kirk of Lubbock, Paula K. Mrosko and husband Mark of Amarillo, Kristy T. Deal and husband, David of Houston, Drs. Stacy L. Silvagni and husband Randy of Richardson, Harris H. Casey and wife Brie of Grand Prairie, Justin C. Alexander and Kelli A. Alexander both of Austin, eighteen greatgrandchildren and one greatgreat grandson two sistersinlaw Judy Mikkelson of Oklahoma City, OK and Gloria Chester of Sun City, AZ, and many nieces, nephews and others.
