Harrel Hardy

Harrel Edward Hardy, 84, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, March 23, 2015 at Fairlanes Baptist Church with Rev. Denis Melton, officiating. Burial will be held at 4 pm Monday in Laverne Memorial Cemetery in Laverne, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the funeral home. His memory may be honored with a gift to the givers choice.

Harrel was born March 9, 1931 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Paul and Anchor Hardy. He married Opal Bates on December 22, 1957 in Forgan, Oklahoma. Harrell proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He was an avid bowler, member of the OCAW Union and a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church, where he enjoyed doing repairs and driving the church van. Nothing brought more joy to his life than spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammie Hardy; and sisters, Bonita Nelson and Clemetta Hamblin.

Survivors include his wife, Opal of the home; sons, Harrel Hardy of Perryton; Terry Hardy and wife, Cindy of Amarillo; daughters, Tanja Scaggs and husband, Frank, Tracey Hardy, Mishelle Hardy all of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, John David Scaggs, Nick Scaggs, Cordell Scaggs, Patricia Scaggs, Aaron Hardy, Natalie Barlett, Samantha Miller, Shawn Goforth; nine great grandchildren, Kaiden, Lexi, Emalee, Corbin, Aaron Maddox, Caleb, Chloe, Cadin, Melody; brother, Darrell Hardy and wife, Winonna of Mission, Texas; sisters, Rosemary Gilbreath and husband, Perry of Lubbock, Juanita Ketron and husband, Junior of Laverne; and a host of extended family.
