Harry Garretson Vance Sr, 93, died Monday, August 7, 2006 in Pampa, Texas.BRBRFuneral services will be Friday, August 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Panhandle, Texas. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Visitation will be from 5-7pm. Thursday at the funeral home. BRBRMr. Vance was a lifetime resident of Panhandle and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Panhandle where he was a past Sunday School Superintendent. He was a farmer and a jobber for Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a record and time keeper for the Panhandle School District Sporting Events. A past president of the Panhandle Country Club and was a charter member. He was a member of the Panhandle Lions Club.BRBRHe married Ruth Metcalf on May 9, 1942, in Panhandle, and she preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, a brother and three sisters.BRBRSurvivors include three sons, Frank Vance of Panhandle, Harry Vance Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, and Bill Vance of Grapevine, Texas, a daughter, Sharon Daughters of Panhandle; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.BRBRCasketbearers will be Bill Vance, John Vance, Willie Daughters, Floyd Daughters, Barry Metcalf, and Paul Detten. Honorary Casketbearers will be Gene Gideon, Floyd Detten, Curtis Metcalf, Wayne Cox, Donald Detten, Archie Looten. BRBRMemorials may be made to Garretson's Nursing Home in Panhandle. BR
