Hazel Hancock

Hazel G. Geri Hancock, 82, died Friday, November 19, 2010 in Amarillo.

Services will be 2pm. Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Tollison, First Baptist Church in Bagato, Texas officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Evergreen at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3pm to 5pm on sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Hazel was born December 3, 1927 to Fred and Bessie McWharter in Haskell County, Texas. She has lived in Borger since 1945. Hazel married Ben Hancock in 1946, at Borger, Texas. She retired from nursing in 1990 after 20 years of service in Borger.

Survivors include a grandson William Wakefield of Amarillo, son in law Jackie Wakefield of Amarillo, 2 sisters Billie Romine of Houston, LaTrice Stephen of Phoenix, Arizona 3 great grandchildren Jason Wakefield of Las Vegas, Nevada, Thomas Wakefield of Oklahoma, and Kelly Norman of New Mexico a great great granddaughter Isabelle Maria Kay Wakefield and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ben September 13, 2004 her parents, and a daughter Linda Wakefield.
