Hazel Ruth Howard, 83, died March 3, 2014 at her home in Borger. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the 1st Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Travis Ellis of Amarillo officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, TX under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Miss Howard was born to Raymond Leslie and Audrie May Clodfelter Howard January 4, 1931 in McLean, TX. She came to Borger in 1935 and taught at Weatherly and Crockett Elementary Schools for 39 years. Hazel was a member and elder of the 1st Presbyterian Church, a Past Worthy Matron and Deputy Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a 50 year member. She was also a member of the Community Concert Association and loved volunteering in the Golden Plains Community Hospital gift shop.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Fred in 1998, Dale in 2010 and Audrey Bud in 2012.
Survivors include her Sister in Law Marcia Howard of Fritch, three nephews and 1 niece.
