Henry Ray

Henry Thomas Ray, 93, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2015, in Amarillo TX. Services at 11:00 am Saturday, October 31, 2015 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church in Borger with Rev. Les Sharp officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery at I-27 and McCormick Road, Amarillo, TX. Under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Ray was born on September 27, 1922 in Groesoek, Texas to Thomas and Minnie Etta (Robertson) Ray. He grew up in Borger, TX, where he graduated from Borger High School in 1941. He then attended Texas A&M from September 1941- January 1942. He withdrew after Pearl Harbor to join the U.S. Coast Guard. After the war he attended the University of Texas where he received his law degree. He practiced law in Amarillo for 56 years retiring in 2007.

He married Fay Walker on October 16,1960 in Amarillo, she preceded him in death.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Darlene Petty of Logan NM, Denise Kelly & husband Wayne of Borger TX, and 1 son Steve Ray. Five grandkids Mark Petty and wife Lori, Jamie Kelly, Laurie West & husband Brandon, Stephen Ray, and Harley Ray. 6 great-grandchildren & 3 great great-grandchildren. One brother Morris Ray of Houston, TX, 2 sisters America Jean Threlkeld of Casper WY. Billy Joe Petzinger and husband Richard of Argile TX, and several nieces and nephews.
