Henry Ford Risner, 84, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Fritch, Texas.
Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Henry was born April 28, 1927 in Wheeler, Texas. He graduated from Wheeler High School in 1945, and attended Wayland Baptist College for a year. Henry retired from Frank Phillps College in Maintenance, and was married to Twyla Ann Cleveland Risner for 36 years. He served in the merchant marines during WW II, receiving an honorable discharge. Henry was not considered a veteran in the merchant marines until 1987. He received numerous medals including, the Atlantic war zone medal, national defense medal, American campaign medal, and the good conduct medal. Henry was a lifetime member of the American legion, avid bowler, and a rock hound.
Henry is survived by a son Phillip Stanley Risner and wife Mary of Austin, a step son Tommy Gariepy and wife June of Borger, a daughter Aletha Cay Armstrong of Littleton, CO, a step daughter Mary Risner Hughes and husband Alan of Fritch, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife, November 21, 2006, and two brothers Scotty and Adrian Risner.
