Hubert Banta

August 14, 1920 — September 8, 2014

Hubert Mancil Banta, 94, died Monday September 8, 2014 in Bryan, Texas. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Westlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Paul Burwash of Fairlanes Baptist Church in Borger officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.

Mr. Banta was born August 14, 1920 in Deirks, Arkansas to Luther Wilson Banta and Eula Mae Chamness Banta. He graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1941 and spent 56 years in the Borger area working five years for Continental Oil and then thirtytwo years for J. M. Huber, Corp. as a pumper. He married Betty Jo Woods May 26, 1945 in Morton, Texas. They were members of churches wherever they traveled but had been a longtime member of Fairlanes Baptist Church. Hubert accepted Jesus as his savior at the age of fourteen in Arkansas. He loved to study the Bible and share his findings with others.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years Betty, his son Gary Banta and his wife Debbie of Bryan, his daughter Carolyn Shelton and her husband Sam of Fritch, his sister Beth Skarrett of Albuquerque, NM, eight Grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and 3 greatgreatgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Fritch from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
