I.W. Dub Summers, 86, of Fritch died Saturday July 11th at Fritch. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday July 14th at Fritch Assembly of God Church with his son Rev.Herlin Summers and Rev. Justin Unwin officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in the Garden of Love under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. There will be a visitation at MintonChatwell in Fritch Monday evening from 6pm to 8 pm.
Dub was born June 26, 1923 at Cowlington, Oklahoma to James Robert and Minnie Belle Bledsoe Summers. He served in the US Army during WWII. On January 5, 1944 he married Marie Gilchrest at Hollis, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death in 1993. He had been a resident of Fritch for fifty years. Dub repaired lawn mowers, loved fishing, daily walks, and sports with his kids.
Pallbearers will be Larry Summers, Will Summers, Tanner Drake, Trevor Drake, Terry Summers, Ethan Summers and Tracey Summers. Honorary bearers will be Robert Taylor, Tommy Drake and Al Mongold.
Survivors are his sons; Herlin and wife Glenda of Minier, Illinois, Larry and Debbie of Stinnett, Tx., Terry and Prissy of Denver City, Tx., Tracey and Beth of Stinnett, Tx. Daughters: Brenda and Al Mongold of Follett, Tx., Cynthia and Tommy Drake of Fritch, Tx., and Sheila and Robert Taylor of Fritch, Tx. Grandchildren: Steve Rhodes, Michelle Mongold, Christi Bennett, Staci Stine, Anna Howard, Will , Alexis , Ethan , Abby , Erin , and Trent Summers, Tanner and Trevor Drake. Fifteen Great Grandchildren and Two Great Great Grandchildren.
