Jack Clifton Cook, 84 died Saturday, July 4, 2009 in Clarendon, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Panhandle Cemetery with Michael Samantha Chase of Sumner, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Mr. Cook was born on July 9, 1924 in Cartersville, OK and had lived in Panhandle for the last six years, moving here from Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He married Syble Lee Ervin on June 2, 1943 in Lavaca, Arkansas. He served in the Pacific in the US Navy during WW II and had been a welder for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lee Laura Naomi Cook, two sons, J.C. Tommy, six brothers and two sisters. He enjoyed reading, playing cards and family gatherings.
His survivors include his son - Jackie Cook of Nashville, TN., six daughters - Linda Smallwood of Amarillo, Shirley Baker of Panhandle, Sandra Bannister of Amarillo, Betty Sanderson of Chandler, AZ, Molly Brucker of Clarendon, Marilyn Defries of Borger, sister - Imogene Wilson of Roland, OK, twenty grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 6900 I-40 West, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106 or to Carson County Library, Panhandle, TX 79068.
Casket bearers will be Melvin Baker, Nick Baker, Billy Bannister, Robert Sanderson, Shawn Sanderson, Casey Martinez, Troy Defries and Taylor Defries.
