Jacob Watson

Jacob Getsondanner Get Watson, 76, died Monday, February 9, 2009 in Amarillo .

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Panhandle with Rev. Larry Perkins, pastor of 1st Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

He was born on May 10, 1932 in Palo Pinto , Texas and had been a Panhandle resident since 1957, moving there from Wheeler. He married Roslyn Bunton on Christmas Day, 1954 in Del Rio . He was the vocational ag teacher from 1957 to 1990 with Panhandle I.S.D. and taught two years before that in Wheeler. He served in the U.S. Army and received a BS in Ag Education in the Class of 55 at Texas Tech. He was a member of the Texas FFA as past head of Area One Association, past president of the Lions Club and was a member of the Carson Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roslyn in 2006 and four brothers.

He is survived by two sons Shane Watson and wife Jodie of Stephenville, TX, Danner Watson and wife Lori of San Dimas, CA, daughter Inda Crawford of Panhandle, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will be staying at 311 Main St. in Panhandle.
Memorials may be made to the J.G. Get Watson Scholarship College of Agriculture Sciences at Texas Tech University or the Get Watson Memorial Ag Scholarship Fund for Panhandle High School Students at the Happy State Bank, PO Box 990 , Panhandle , TX 79068 .
