James "Short Dog" Michael Brooks, 60 of Borger died Tuesday December 29th in Borger. Funeral services will be 2 :00 pm Saturday at Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Melvin Brooks SR officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
James was born February 21, 1955 in Borger to Ben Melvin Brooks SR and Bennie Mae Pope Brooks. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He worked for Phillips for nine years.
James was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his father Ben Melvin Brooks SR of Borger. Son Michael Jerome Bowie of Houston. Sisters Bertalene Brooks Dickson of Borger and Parilene Brooks Coffer of Dallas. Brothers Ben Melvin Brooks JR of Amarillo and Melton Ray Brooks of Muskogee, Oklahoma. One grandchild Khalil Jabar Bowie.
