James Cheatwood

James Ray “Jamie” Cheatwood, 67 of Stinnett, TX passed away September 18, 2020. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday September 21, 2020 at Riverview Baptist Church. Graveside to follow at Sunset Memorial in Stinnett under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.  There will be a visitation of family and friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Jamie was born to Alton Cheatwood and Novelle Cobb Cheatwood in Borger, TX on February 23, 1953. Jamie was a “River Rat” and grew up in Electric City. Jamie was a proud Phillips Blackhawk of the class of 1971. He earned his Electrical Engineering Degree from Texas Tech University in 1975. Jamie married the love of his life Paula Buschman on May 27, 1978 in Borger,TX, and they made their home in Stinnett. Jamie worked for Phillips Petroleum and Chevron Phillips for over 40 years before retiring in 2015. He was a lifelong and faithful member of Riverview Baptist Church where he served as treasurer, deacon, head usher, soundman, trustee and taught the “Pairs and Spares” Sunday School class for 44 years. When he wasn’t working at the church or at Camp Masterson, Jamie loved to travel, chase grandkids and eat Oreos.

Jamie was preceded in death by his mother and his father-in-law Benny. He is survived by his father Alton Cheatwood of Borger, wife of forty-two years Paula of the home, daughter Barbie Green and husband Brandon of Borger, son Alton Cheatwood II and wife Amy of Borger, sisters Susan White and husband Danny of Granbury, and Nancy Kelley and husband Mike of Masterson, grandchildren Jamie II, Jacob, Kaitlynn and Bradley, “maw-in-law” Leola Buschman of Stinnett, multiple beloved nieces and nephews, and more cousins than can be counted.
