James Johnny J.W. Woodrow Hanes, 94, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014.
Cryptside service will be held 11 am Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Memorial Park East Mausoleum in Amarillo.
Johnny was born November 27, 1919 in Shamrock, Texas to Albert and Emma Hanes. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. Johnny worked for J.M. Huber Corp as a welder. He was an avid bird hunter and helped plant hedges around First Baptist Church where he was an usher and greeter. You could rest assured that he always had a good vegetable garden.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Bette Hanes second wife, Onie Dee Shadid Hanes son, Albert Hanes stepdaughter, Nannette McMurry and niece, Audrey Hanes.
Survivors include his grandsons, James Hanes and wife, Shawnbra of Amarillo, Christopher Hanes and his wife, Sonya of Honolulu, Hawaii, Dalton Hanes and wife, Jamie of Amarillo two great grandchildren stepdaughters, Rhonda Shadid and husband, Charles Moschera of Ashburn, Virginia, Georgann Goldston and husband, Hugh of Borger stepsoninlaw, Tony McMurry of Shawnee, Oklahoma nieces, Kathy Sargent and husband, Charles of Stinnett, Donna Knoll of Amarillo, Teresa Pursell of Moore, Oklahoma, Janice Flaherty and husband, Dave of Salem, Missouri nephews, Danny Archer and wife, Linda of Shamrock, Mike Hanes and wife, Brenda of Amarillo, Joe Archer and wife, Cynthia of Tulia, Craig Archer of Dallas and a host of extended family.
