James Arthur Red Herring, Jr., 84, died Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12th at Stinnett Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Herring was born on May 15, 1926 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and and been a Stinnett resident since 1996. He had lived in Bugbee Heights for seven years before moving to Stinnett and had lived in Pampa prior to that. He served in the US Navy during WW II and had numerous jobs in the oil field, working for Sharp Drilling Co. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Virginia Bell on October 20, 1943 in Pampa, and she preceded him in death on April 14, 1991. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister Violet Lou Dawson and five grandsons.
He loved spending time with his family and grandkids, was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by two sons Jim Bob Herring of Stinnett, Dale Ray Herring of Amarillo, three daughters Andre Louise Roberson and ONita Robinson both of Pampa, and Gayla Faye Mulholland of Evanston, WY., nine grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren and two greatgreat grandchildren.
Honorary casket bearers will be Brian Herring, Rodney Roberson, Jammie Roberson, Cy Mulholland, Malcolm Mulholland, Andrew Mills and Greg Mills.
Family will be at 328 Sara Dr. in Scotts Acres.
