James Nelson Jay, 76, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017.
Graveside services will be held 10 am on Monday, July 3, 2017 in Panhandle Cemetery with Pastor Marshall Ford officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to the Alzheimer Association, 5410 South Bell Ste. 411, Amarillo, TX 79109.
James was born December 28, 1940 in Plainview, Texas to Lena Katheryn and Claude Brooks Jay. He proudly served in the United States Army. He married Vicky Thomas on January 18, 2001. Jay was a hardworking man with a kind heart and a gentle spirit. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. Nothing brought more joy to his life than his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Jay and sister, Wanda Pfeiffer.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky of Amarillo; daughters, Dana Mickey and husband Brent of Victoria, Bridey McCormack and husband Cornell of Fritch; grandchildren, Jessica Mickey, Todd Mickey, Kelsey Ham, Coltyn McCormack, Kyleigh McCormack; stepdaughter, Tessa R. Mogelinski and husband Joey of Amarillo; stepson, Jason T. Caffee of Amarillo; brother, Kenneth Jay and wife Margaret of Amarillo; his canine companion, Harley and his feline companion, Josie.
