James Wesley "Jim" Luginbyhl, 60, died January 10, 2019 at his home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Grace Church. Military graveside rites will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will welcome friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Jim was born January 20, 1958 in Borger to Robert Luginbyhl and Irene Johnson Luginbyhl. He graduated Texas Tech University in 1980, received his Master's degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology and then his PHD from Kennedy-Western University. He married Debbie Odom May 12, 1978 in Amarillo and they have lived in Hutchinson County for 29 years and Borger for the past six years. They raised cattle and lived on the L Bar Ranch for 23 years. Jim was an Environmental Superintendent for Chevron Phillips and was a Captain in the Air Force. He loved and enjoyed his family, grandchildren and camping in Colorado. Jim was proud of being an Eagle Scout and believed fully in education.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters Joyce Luginbyhl and Kathie Elkins.
Jim is survived by his wife of forty years Debbie, his two sons James A. Luginbyhl and his wife Elizabeth of Richardson, TX and Kyle Luginbyhl and his wife Carla of Gilbert, AZ and his daughter Amy Cheatwood and her husband Alton of Borger, his sister Glynna Armstrong of Amarillo and six grandchildren; Jace Luginbyhl, Dylan Miner, Hanna Luginbyhl, Madelyn Luginbyhl, Jamie Cheatwood and Kaitlynn Cheatwood.
