Funeral services for James M. Jim Ormsby, 86, who died July 10, 2012 in Plainview will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the 1st United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Boren, District Supervisor of Abilene and Rev. Johnny Robertson, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Jim was born in Gorman, TX to William and Addie Ormsby March 25, 1926. He graduated from Gorman High School and signed up in the U. S. Marines to fight in World War II. When he returned he went to Texas A M University where he graduated in 1950 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business. Jim married Laura Brandon December 31, 1954 in Decatur, TX. He started work with Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1950 where he eventually became the Director of Human Resources for the Southwest Region. He worked in Bartlesville, OK, London, England and Borger during his 33 years with the company. Jim was a Charter Member of the Borger Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and also served as President of the Chamber for 3 years. He was a board member of Panhandle Bank and Trust, 1st Savings and Loan, the Hutchinson County Airport Board, Frank Phillips Board of Development, a member of the Phillips Lions Club and the Borger Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Laura of Amarillo, his son Mike Ormsby and wife Teresa of Borger, his 2 daughters June Armstrong and husband Michael of Amarillo and Linda Bible and husband EJ of San Angelo, TX, 2 Sisters Lugean Esten of Mesquite, TX and Minnie Stacy of Lewisville, TX, 8 Grandchildren and 4 GreatGrandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Jake Bible, Justin McKnight, Jason Armstrong, Jeremy Ormsby, Zachary Ormsby, Vince Tam and Brandon Clavel.
