James Profitt

James Jim Thomas Profitt, 88, died Monday, December 13, 2010 in Amarillo.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Panhandle Church of Christ with Mitch Wiggains, Minister , officiating, and Ed Hinshaw assisting. Interment will follow at the Panhandle cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Mr. Profitt was born on July 21, 1922 in Perry County, Kentucky to Jeremiah and Ida Profitt. On June 11, 1941, Jim joined the United States Army during WW II, and later joined the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force, February 28, 1963 as a Sr. Master Sgt. after serving for 22 years in the military. Jim married Olive Ruth Hinshaw May 16, 1953 in Tucumcari, New Mexico, and has been a Panhandle resident mostly since 1952. He was a member of the Panhandle Church of Christ, loved woodworking, and was Past Master in the Carson Masonic Lodge 1167. Jim was also a life member of the VFW and had been former commander.

Survivors include his wife, 2 sons Larry Eugene Profitt of Longview, Tx and James T. Profitt Jr. and wife Paula of Christchurch, New Zealand 2 daughters Sharon Ann Sitterley and husband Bob of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Mary Hilao of Garland, Texas 1 sister Dorothy Alice Profitt of Panhandle and 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
