J.R. was born December 31, 1957, in Concordia, Kansas to James Henry Black and Leona Gleason Black. He married Patricia Loucks on June 20, 1975, in Fritch. J.R. had a true cowboy’s heart, he enjoyed farming, ranching and everything that went with it. He was a member of Canadian River Cowboy Church where he led their security team. He owned and operated Norpan Trucking and Welding Company for over 13 years. He and Patricia spent many hours together driving trucks all over. J.R. was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the trucking industry, in fact it was nothing out of the norm for him to be called to drive a random truck around to diagnose its mechanical issue. Nothing brought more joy to his life than his family. He took great pride in not only teaching his children and grandchildren how to drive, shoot guns, but mainly teaching them about the love of Jesus.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Leona Black; father, James Black; and daughter, Candice Michelle Black.
