Jane Louise Davis Gillespie passed away on Wednesday December 17, 2014.
Memorial services will be held at the Borger Presbyterian Church at 1 PM, on Saturday, January 3rd. A lunch and reception will be held after the service. Interment will follow in a private ceremony at West Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to World Vision, www.worldvision.org, P.O. Mrs. Gillespie was a long time resident of Borger having moved there with her young family in 1946. She was born in Lawrenceburg, TN on January 19, 1922. She served in the Civil Service in Savannah, GA during World War II. It was here that she met her husband, John Gillespie they were married in Savannah on February 14, 1944. Mrs. Gillespie earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from West Texas State University in 1967. She taught first through third grade at Morse and Plemons Elementary schools. Mrs. Gillespie was a devoted wife and mother, a talented painter and a gifted gardener and seamstress. She loved the outdoors and the plants and animals that inhabited her natural world. She was a member of the Borger Presbyterian Church and worked with her husband to help others through Alanon and Kairos.
Mrs. Gillespie is survived by her two daughters Jane Gillespie of Godfrey, IL and Johnnie Gillespie of Santa Fe, NM, Janes partner Lesley Hauser of Godfrey, IL, a sister in law, Ann Davis of Chicago, IL, as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband John Moreland Gillespie, a son John Moreland Gillespie Jr., her parents, Raymond and Lovey Calvert Davis of Lawrenceburg, TN, and her brothers Raymond Davis Jr. of San Francisco, CA, Herman Davis of Atlanta, GA and Billy Davis of Etheridge, TN.
