Jay Hawley, Jr.

November 30, 1927 — March 26, 2016

Jay Loyd Hawley, 88, born on November 30, 1927, in Eastland, TX and passed away March 26, 2016 at St. Joseph Regional Health center in Bryan, TX. Jay was a resident of Hearne, TX for 16 years and also lived in Borger, TX for some time.

He graduated Panhandle High School and earned a BS degree in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University. At the time of his graduation in 1948, it was Texas A&M College. Mr. Hawley served his country in the Navy during WWII and in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hawley retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after a 38 year career. He was a member of the Borger Rotary Club and served as a tour guide for the US Parks Service for several years. He enjoyed trap shooting, attending auctions, playing cards, and he loved to eat.

Jay is survived by his son Jay Hawley and wife, Nita from Crawford, TX, Daughter Susan Scarpinato and Joe Scarpinato Jr. of Hearne, Son Jeff Hawley and wife, Victoria from College Station, TX, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 Niece and 1 Nephew.

Visitation in Hearne will be 9-10am Wednesday March 30, with funeral services beginning at 10am at First Baptist church in Hearne, TX, Brother Larry Blackmon will officiate.

The family will receive friends in Borger at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 9-11am.

Memorial Contributions to be made in lieu of flowers to donor's choice.
