Jeanie Miller

November 13, 1940 — August 26, 2024

Reno, NV

Jeanie Miller, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher and friend, passed into the arms of our Lord on August 26th, 2024. Jeanie was born in Bartlesville, OK on November 13th, 1940 to Joe Harrison and Loma Irelia (Groom) Harrison.

Jeanie met the love of her life, Charles Miller the summer of 1959 on a blind date while he was home from Texas A&M, became engaged at the “Aggie Bonfire” in the fall and married in February 1960. Following graduation, they moved to Simi Valley, CA and raised Cynthia and Jeff. As Charles’ career grew, they moved to Scottsdale, AZ, Seattle, WA and Kansas City, MO before retiring to their dream home in Crystal Bay, NV in 1997.

Jeanie was passionate about music throughout her life, playing music at church in her early years, teaching piano after the children were born, and founding a music studio with hundreds of students and an extensive student teacher program. Many students became professional musicians, performing soloists and music professors. Subsequently she founded “International Ambassadors of Music” (IAM), a philanthropic organization striving to bridge cultures through music. As Chairman, Jeanie impacted children throughout the world, leading projects in India, China, Japan, Brazil, Peru, Russia, the Czech Republic and Ethiopia. Many of the students she touched remained in contact throughout her life.

In retirement, Jeanie enjoyed using her creativity to decorate their home at Lake Tahoe where she generously hosted family and friends, held concerts for young musicians, wrote poetry and enjoyed time in Napa Valley with Charles.

Jeanie was preceded in death by Charles, her husband of 57 years and her beloved grandson, Robert Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Walker (Jim) of North Bend, WA, son, Jeff (Sue) of Santa Barbara, CA, 5 grandchildren, Kali (Eli) Schwimmer, Katelyn (Tyler) Godfrey, Kelsey (Korey) Langhals, Hannah Miller, Jake Miller, 5 great grandchildren Ezra and Asa Schwimmer, Seka and Norah Langhals and Emmett Godfrey, sister-in-law Madeline Miller of Amarillo, TX and brother-in-law, Jack (Claudia) Miller of Raton, NM.
