Jerry George Cash, 81, died July 11, 2016 at home in Borger.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Minton Memorial Chapel with Associate Pastor Reed Redus of 1st Baptist Church of Amarillo. Cremation was under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will be at 4607 Greenwich Place in Amarillo.
Jerry was born October 12, 1934 in Amarillo to Cecil Fyfe Cash and George Homer Cash. He attended Amarillo High School and Graduated from Canadian High School in 1953. He received a scholarship to Clarendon Junior College for pole vaulting and then attended Amarillo College. Jerry served in the U. S. Army from 1956 until 1960 where he was stationed at the Niki Ajax Missile Unit in Hampton, Virginia.
Jerry married Patsy G. Hudson in December of 1956 just after getting his draft notice. After returning from the military he worked in commercial insurance and was relocated to Borger. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. in September of 1986 and retired in 2012. Jerry umpired football and softball for 40 years, helped start the Tri City Youth football program and bowled with Patsy on mixed city bowling leagues from 1974 until 1999. He loved to hunt and fish especially with his grandson Chris Damon.
Jerry was preceded in death by his son in law Robert W. "Bobby" Damon, Jr. his father Homer Cash, his mother Cecil Hodges, his stepdad Sam Hodges and his stepmother Gladys Cash.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Patsy, his son Mark Cash of McKinney, his two daughters Sheri Cash Garcia of Borger and Lisa Damon Boyd and her husband Eddie of Amarillo, five grandsons Chris Damon, Gabriel Garcia, Julian Garcia, David Boyd and Tanner Garcia, three granddaughters Addison Damon, Ashli Smoot and her husband Zack and Caroline Rogers and her husband Drew and his two sisters Sue Cash of Channing and Denise Berryman and her husband Jim of Amarillo.
