The family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Jerry was born on January 24, 1985, in Borger, Texas, the son of Tami Rannals and Jerry Contreras. He graduated from Borger High School in 2003, then went on to the University of Texas-Arlington, Jerry lacked one year to become an electrical engineer.
Jerry became a member of Riverview Baptist Church at a young age and has always remained strong in his faith. He attended Grace Fellowship Sunday’s service every chance he got. Jerry has always been a great athlete, even from a young age. He played every sport he could and excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He grew a love like no other for the Cowboys and Texas Longhorn football teams. Regardless of either teams’ stats for the year, he never gave up on his teams. He was what you consider a true fan. Jerry would even ask you which team you liked before determining his likings for you. He would always tell you that he got his love for the Cowboys from his Mema.
Outside of Jerry’s love for sports, he loved his family. He thought the world of his dad and always wanted to pick on his sisters, but he also wanted to protect them and take care of them. Jerry’s smile was infectious, he spent the last 7 years in Caprock Nursing home where he was known as the onery one, yet he was the light of so many residents’ world. Over the past few years, he spent endless hours on the phone at Caprock calling Chris to ask for a monster energy drink and “some change” for the vending machine even though he had just taken money up there hours before. Jerry kept everybody laughing, his humor remained the same throughout the years, but he became more blunt. He would say things that most would think was insensitive, but we could only laugh, and we knew that was just Bubba. We all knew that Jerry was quite the charmer, his stunning green eyes and beautiful smile got him in a lot of trouble over the years. He never failed to let a female go without knowing how beautiful she was, yet he wanted you to know that it was “always the girl’s fault”. If you knew Jerry, you knew his love for cologne, he never went anywhere without smelling good. No matter how many bottles he had, he always wanted more.
He is preceded in death by his pepaw, Kenneth Wayne Rannals; great grandparents, Edna and Lester Rannals, Jack and Tommy Ann Curry; and cousin, Tony Contreras.
Survivors include his mother, Tami Brown and husband Chris; father, Jerry Contreras and wife Gloria; stepfather for over 20 years, Jimmy Brown and wife Shawna; siblings, Brianna Hudson and husband Skyler, Amber Contreras, Pete Varges and wife Jennifer, Alicia Baez; grandparents, Terrye Hooks, Lloyd Hooks, Rudy and Hope Contreras; nieces and nephews, Emma Hudson, Meyah Nunez, Iryanna Porras, Luke Wayne Hudson, Adrian Nunez, Alexiah Baez, Launa Kemp, Makayla Vargas, Izak Guiterrez, Lyrik James, Caiden Reynolds; and many aunts and uncles with far more cousins, including his uncle, Tom Joiner.
