Jerry Nolen, 76, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior January 2, 2022.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday January 7, 2022, at the Riverview Baptist church with Mike Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Jerry was born December 11, 1945 to E. L. and Estelle Nolen in Matador, Texas. Jerry was a man of many talents. He served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam war, broke horses, ran a hog farm, ran a salvage yard and hauled hay. Then, in June of 1980 Jerry started D-J’s Well Service with his brother Don Nolen. Jerry always found time for any who needed him. Jerry was a friend, father figure and counselor to anyone who requested his help. Those close to him knew he was a grizzly bear with a teddy bear heart. He was one of the founders and financial supporters of HOPE, the Hutchinson Oil Patch Extravaganza. HOPE was the largest per capita fund raiser for the American Cancer Society for many years. He was also a supporter of the Hutchinson County Jr Livestock Association and many other youth activities in Hutchinson County.
Jerry is survived by his wife Beverly, his son Wes Nolen of Borger, daughters, Shelli Tracy and husband Jeremy of Amarillo, Natasha Evenson and husband Rob, of Fritch, Amanda Jones and husband Brandon of Dumas, son Travis Lay of Borger, Ty Lay and wife Chelsea of Stinnett, 17 grandchildren, Bailey and husband Edgar, Bradley and wife Savannah, Braxton, Chazden, Cidney, Caden, Jenna, Cutler, Wyatt, Peyton, Sage, Emma, Cash, Shine, Kylin, Macklyn and Cutter, great grandson Easton and one great grandchild due in July.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dale Oswalt Nolen, his brothers Don Nolen and Harrell Nolen and his sisters Wanda Sandefur and Carol Jean Cummings.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Bevins, Chazden Tracy, Caden Nolen, Braxton Bevins, Cody Nolen, Stacy Nolen, Jody Nolen and Corey Nolen.
The family will receive friends at Minton Chatwell funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 in the evening.
