Jerry Ray Pool, 78, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in Amarillo.
Memorial Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Jennifer Santer, Pastor, and Rev. Georgia King, BSA Chaplain officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Jerry was born June 9, 1934 in Falls City, Nebraska to Lawson and Sally Bush Pool. He went to high school in Beatrice, Nebraska for three and half years, and then graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, in June of 1952 where he played football. He was also involved in the school paper, and quill and scroll.
Jerry married Toni Caufield on May 1, 1965 at the First Presbyterian Church in Borger. He was employed by DJs Well Service for many years. Jerry was a life member of the National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Club, Trout Unlimited, North American Fishing Club, Quail Unlimited, Southwest Football Officials Association, Oklahoma Officials Association, member of the Elks Lodge, the Hutchinson County Historical Commission, and the Texas Rifle Association. He was also an instructor for Texas Parks and Wildlife Hunter and Boater Safety, Earth Team Volunteer for US Department of Agriculture, and B.A.S.S.
He was a very social person and enjoyed visiting with his friends around town. Jerry also enjoyed working on community projects for the Hutchinson County Museum and the Borger Chamber of Commerce, where he was very proud of the pump jack project. He loved to sing in the community choir and Christmas parties at the Streckers house. Jerry loved to fish, and hunt, especially trout fishing in the mountains with his children. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Borger where he sang in the choir, and served as Elder, and trustee for many years. Jerry loved his church and all the people in it.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Toni a daughter, Courtney Bruhn and husband Todd , and grandson Cavitt of Plano three sons Greg Pool and wife Cindy of New Bruanfels, Mitch Standard and wife Meredith of Oklahoma City, Kerby Standard and wife Piney, and grandchildren Marsha, Travis, Brooke, and Alex of Edmond, Oklahoma. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Dr. Sarah Christensen and husband Dr. Dane of Denver, Colorado, and AF Captain Brett Bohn and wife Rebeka, and great grandsons Matthew, and Oliver three sisters Jean Robles of Victoria, Joyce McKay and husband Jerry of Odessa, Jan Taylor of Bastrop a brother John Hermes of Amarillo his aunt, Dorothy Dunn of St. Joseph, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Krista Lacy.
