J.I. Williams

J.I. "Jim" Williams, 82, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017.

A celebration of life will be held 2 pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at First Baptist Church Panhandle with Pastor Dwight Kirksey and Pastor Ricky Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends at Shawn and Heather Kennedy's House, 116 FM 1342, Panhandle, Texas from 6-8 pm on Monday, March 20, 2017.

Jim was born May 12, 1934 in Amarillo, Texas to Mary and Lewis Williams. He married Fran McMahan on September 17, 1988 in Fritch. Jim was a member of Celebration Family Church and Gideons Borger Camp. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers, Texas Cattle Feeder Association and Texas Farm Bureau. Jim assisted on many Walk to Emmaus and served as a counselor at Ceta Canyon for special needs adults. He attended many mission trips including Bill Glass Weekend of Champions. Jim loved music and played all over the Texas Panhandle.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carol Williams; and sister, Carollyn Matheny.

Survivors include his wife, Fran of the home; sons, James Williams and wife Terri of Amarillo, Wes Williams of Austin; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
