Jimmie Edward Tate, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013.
A memorial service will be held 10 am Monday, December 9, 2013 at Eternal Light Church. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Jimmie was born June 15, 1930 in Jefferson City, Missouri to Pete and Myrtle Tate. He married Delwanda Cummings in Clovis, New Mexico on September 6, 1951.
Jimmie proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a insulation and contract engineer with Standard Insulation and Young Sales. He was voted Man of the Year and was honorable mention as an unsung hero in 2001. Jimmie loved his family dearly and always doted over his wife. He loved gardening, woodworking, trains, fishing and traveling.
He is preceded in death by his parents wife brothers, Elbert, Willie, Jerry Don, Bobby
Sargent, Jimmy Ray Sargent and granddaughter, Jessica Tate.
Survivors include his son, Darrel Tate and his wife, Lendy of Borger daughters, Patricia Lynne Preston of Borger, Katherine Louise McElreath and her husband, David of Waco brother, Elijah Tate and his wife, Janie of Fritch sister, Kay Tate Adams and her husband, Bill of Hale Center sisterinlaw, Martha Tate of Fritch seven grandchildren ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
