Joan Griffin

Joan Chapman Griffin passed away November 20, 2013 in Dallas. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday Dec. 7th at Panhandle Cemetery in Panhandle, Texas under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Born in Fort Worth to William Earl and Allis Chapman, she grew up in Midland. She graduated from Texas Tech in Lubbock, where she met her future husband, Lt. Carroll R. Griffin, who preceded her in death. She spent her early married life raising her two children, teaching grade school, and accompanying her husband to his various military assignments in Europe and the US. Prior to moving to Dallas, she lived in Lubbock, where she was a member of Lake Ridge United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son Mark H. Griffin and his wife, Marsha, of Dallas, her daughter Rebecca Gillespie of Fairfax, CA, her brother W. E. Chapman of Lubbock, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her constant support and love for her family, and her grace, humor and unfailing good cheer.
