John Burnett

April 19, 1922 — February 19, 2013

John A. Burnett, 90 of Stinnett, died, Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Dumas.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Chillicothe Cemetery, Chillicothe Texas. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Burnett was born April 19, 1922 in Woodsboro, Texas to John W. and Winne Burnett. He worked for 30 years at Gatewoods Dry Cleaners and 10 years at LM grocery as a butcher. John married Julia LaVerne Reeves, August 12, 1942 in Haskell, Texas. John was a member of First Baptist Church Chillicothe and a member of the Chillicothe Masonic Lodge. He proudly served our country in the Army, and was stationed in the Philippines during WWII.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Winnie Burnett brother, Milton Burnett sisters, Grace Hudson, Iris Young and granddaughter, Kristi Bivins Willis.

John is survived by his wife LaVerne of Stinnett two daughters, Jan Barnes of Stinnett, Sharon Bivins and husband Johnny of Dalhart brother Kenneth Burnett of Vernon sisterinlaw Billie Jean McAuley of Knox City, Texas three grandchildren, Kim Burton, Jennifer and Trent Barnes six greatgrandchildren, Blaine, Bryce, Brett, Zane, Rhett, Cainon: and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church Chillicothe, PO Box 367, Chillicothe, Texas 79225.
