John Christopher J.C. Darrow, 81, of Panhandle died Saturday, June 15, 2013.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Panhandle. Burial will follow in Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are by MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
J.C. was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Shamrock to G.L. and Myrtle Wood Darrow. He attended school in Lela through the eighth grade and graduated from Shamrock High School in 1950. J.C. proudly served in the Army.
He worked for Gregg Dairy and Rufus Dodgen in Shamrock and for Lone Star Gas Plant, northwest of Shamrock. He worked for 20 years with Rock Island Railroad. He worked 15 years for Pantex as a craft supervisor.
J.C. married Mary Alice Holton in 1960, in Childress.
He served as a deacon in the Borger Primitive Baptist Church and was active in Shamrock Sports Boosters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorene Darrow.
Survivors include his wife, Mary three daughters, Rita Barker and husband Cas of McLean, Paula Bartholomew and husband Dan of Yucaipa, Calif., and Lesa Tarver and husband Mark of Shamrock a son, Chris Darrow of Yucaipa five grandsons two granddaughters six greatgrandsons two greatgranddaughters and two sisters, Ola Mae Nunn of Amarillo and Billie Landrum and husband Harold of Lubbock.
The family suggests memorials be to Borger Primitive Church, in care of Ernest Hardy, 910 S. Colgate St., Perryton, TX 79070 or Panhandle Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 715, Panhandle, TX 79068.
