John Melvin Hinds, 87, formerly of Borger died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Church of Christ at Borger with Richard Kasko of the Fritch Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at the White Deer cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Visitation will be from 5:007:00 p.m. Thursday at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors in Borger.
John was born December 16, 1924 in Salt Creek, Wyoming to John Clemons Hinds and Margrett Esplin Hinds. He married Irma McGlohon October 8, 1949 in Ulysses, Kansas and recently just moved to Amarillo, after living in Borger since 1926. John served his country in the United States Navy at the battle of Normandy during WW II. He was very proud of his country and family. John retired from J.M. Huber after working there for 38 years, and was a member of the Church of Christ at Borger.
Survivors include his wife Irma of the home two daughters Barbara Goodgion of Borger, Irma Jean Rynders of Houston a brother Robert Bob Hinds of Borger four grandchildren DeeDee Bennett of Canyon, Chad Goodgion of Keller, Dustin Rynders of Houston, and Jeremy Rynders of New York City eight greatgrandchildren Amanda Hinders of Houston, Brooke Bennett of Amarillo, Hannah and Hailey Bennett both of Claude, Kenadee Bennett of Canyon, Katie Say of Amarillo, Coy and Austen Goodgion both of Keller.
