John Ray Thompson, 70 of Fritch died January 3rd in Wichita Falls, Texas. Memorial services will be 10:00 am Saturday at Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger. Cremation was under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral directors of Borger.
John was born October 30, 1943 in McKinney, Texas to Harley Ray and Opal Horn Thompson. He was a disabled veteran in the US Navy. John was a resident of Fritch for 29 years. He was an accomplished carpenter. John won an award for over 1,000 hours volunteering at the Amarillo VA Hospital where he loved making peoples day brighter. He enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands. John enjoyed church activities as he was a Godly man. Most important he was a wonderful and loved husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his daughters,Tonya and husband Steve Stephenson of Fritch Melony and husband David Watkins of Fritch Grandchildren, Stephanie and husband J. W. McPherson of San Antonio Mallory and her husband William Brown III of Amarillo William Watkins of Dade City, Florida mother of his two daughters, grandmother of his grandchildren, and friend, Sue and her husband, Tom Pearson Sister MaryLynn of Garland and a brother Robert Thompson of Sunray.
