J. W. Dub Waldrep, 73, died Wednesday, July 19th, 2006 in Borger, Texas.BRBRServices will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Grace Fellowship Church with Steve Cook, Missionary from Clarendon, TX officiating. The Borger Elks Lodge and the Borger Fire Department will be in charge of the graveside service at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of MintonChatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.BRBRMr. Waldrep was born on October 3, 1932 in Borger. He was the Fire Chief, Fire Marshall and arson investigator for the City of Borger for 37 years. He married Nancy Slaybaugh on July 6, 1951 in Borger and was a member of the Borger Elks Lodge.
Dub was very active in civic work including the Boy Scouts, Little League and giving programs on fire safety to various civic clubs and students in the Borger schools. Dub was the editor of the Lake Meredith Rod and Gun section of the Borger News Herald and was the photographer for Phillips school events. Dub also worked with Girls Town and the Borger Future Farmers of America. He was a wealth of information about the history of Borger and Hutchinson County.
BRSurvivors include his wife, Nancy Waldrep of the home, son - John W. Waldrep, Jr. of Borger, three daughters - NanEtte Collins and her husband, Richard of Fritch, Debbie Brittain of Gatesville, Tx., Deana Hubbard and her husband, Kenny of Texroy Camp, Tx., brother - Paul Everett Waldrep of Springfield, MO., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.BRBRCasket bearers will be Dusty Brittain, Kevin Hubbard, Robert Collins, Jason Collins, Will Waldrep, and Gene McWilliams. The honorary casket bearers will be the Borger Fire Department and Retirees.BRBRMemorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
