John Richard Yohn, 78, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Hermanson officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Director of Borger.
John was born July 1, 1940 to Walter and Alene Yohn in Garden City, Kansas. He was raised on a farm in Ulysses, Kansas. Work brought him to the Borger area in 1966, where he met and fell in love with Sue Ferguson in Borger. He was a very proud Dad, Papa and Great-Grandpa. John enjoyed his guns, loved making knives and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He worked from 1991-2016 as a road foreman for Precinct 2 in Hutchinson County. There wasn't a piece of dirt equipment he couldn't operate. He was a commander for the Hutchinson County Fire Department. He was also a storm watcher.
He is preceded in death by three sons, Timmy Yohn, Jimmy Yohn, Bobby Yohn; parents, Walter and Alene Yohn; and one sister, Peggy Shapland.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Yohn of Borger; children, Geraldine (Don) Tollison of Sanford, Elaina Fruit of Pampa, John "Butch/Pup" Yohn of Borger, Karla Smucker of Hutchinson, Kansas, James Yohn of Wichita, Kansas; eighteen grandkids; thirty-six, great-grandkids; one great-great-grandkid; a sister, JoAnn (Harold) Lance of Ulysses, Kansas; and a brother, David (Pat) Yohn of Ulysses, Kansas.
