Panhandle Johnny Edward Kalka, 76, of Panhandle died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in Borger.
Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Panhandle. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, with Father Mieczyslaw Prezepiora officiating. Interment will follow at the Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Johnny was born on April 7, 1937 in McClean, TX, to Louie and Mina Waldrop Kalka. He married Oleta Ophelia Lloyd on April 25, 1981 in Panhandle. Johnny was a fireman for Pantex for 43 years. He also did fencing for farmers and did a little farming for himself.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Carroll Kalka.
Survivors are his wife, Oleta of Panhandle sons, Delwin Ray Hinkle of Coppell, TX, Rodrick Hinkle of Panhandle, Thomas Hinkle of Lubbock daughter, Chandra Young of Panhandle brother, Bill Kalka of Panhandle sisters, Dorothy Prichard of Minden, NV, and Beatrice Kalka of Austin nine grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requested that memorials be made to Caprock Nursing and Rehabilitation, 900 College Ave, Borger, TX 79007 or St. Theresa Catholic Church, P.O. Box 336, Panhandle, TX 79068.
